Managing Director & Consultant

As Managing Director and Consultant for Knowledge Strategy Solutions®, LLC (“KSS”), Brian Seward expands upon a twenty year career in law and decade plus career in information management consulting.  Founded by experienced lawyers intrigued with the possibilities that technology offers to reduce data-related legal risk and improve the delivery of legal services, KSS is committed to helping organizations reduce risk, lower legal and compliance costs, gain marketplace agility and enhance innovation by discovering, managing and exploiting their knowledge assets through simple, holistic and innovative solutions.

Prior to joining KSS, Brian led the Regulatory Retention and Supervision Product Management team at Bank of America responsible for development, management and support of Bank of America electronic archiving and discovery platforms for its broker dealers.  Supporting the bank’s legal, compliance and compliance supervision functions, Brian possesses a deep understanding of the complex and constantly-changing regulatory obligations facing today’s companies and the information governance challenges those obligations present.

Brian’s understanding of today’s information governance landscape is informed by his work leading consulting teams at Computer Associates, Inc. (“CA”) advising corporate legal, compliance, risk management, IT and audit teams on best practice policy and procedure for regulatory retention, supervision and e-discovery.  Taking these stakeholder teams through process and procedure assessments, Brian helped clients employ new strategies to optimize retention, compliance and discovery technologies and to implement policies and procedures to support those improved strategies.

Brian is a longtime thought-leader in electronic discovery and regulatory information governance as author, presenter and panelist.  Brian has served as guest faculty lecturer for Teledyne LeCroy’s internal MBA program, teaching knowledge and records management strategies for legal compliance.  Brian is a member of the Virginia State Bar since 1993 and the New York State Bar since 1997.  Brian’s professional affiliations include memberships in the non-profit Corporate Knowledge Strategies (“CKS”), Association for Information and Image Management (“AIIM”), Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (“SIFMA”) Compliance and Legal Society, and ARMA.
